Dogs on cross river ferries

Submitted by Ben Pritchard on Fri, 10/07/2015 - 2:44pm

At the Teneriffe Festival on Saturday 4 July, the most popular comment posted on the TPA comments board was a request/suggestion that dogs should be permitted to travel, with their owners, on the cross river ferry from Bulimba to Teneriffe.

I have asked Translink to consider making a (small) change to its network-wide ban on animals, except guide dogs, travelling on public transport. The email reply - copied below -  says that the request will be referred to the appropriate committee of Translink (State Government) for consideration.

Telstra mobile antennae

Submitted by Ben Pritchard on Thu, 09/07/2015 - 12:23pm

I have been sent a letter of notification from Telstra, which advises the community of plans to install new antennae on Goldsborough Place, 39 Vernon Terrace. The letter asks for community feedback to be sent to the company by 27 July 2015. We will discuss this at the July meeting - Wednesday 15th, 7:00pm - so if you have comments or interest in this matter, please come along to the meeting on Wednesday.

The attached photomontage shows how the antennae will look from the Vernon Terrace side of the site. Similar antennae are proposed for the river elevation of the building.

Footprints site, 105-109 Commercial Road: Response from Cllr Vicki Howard

Submitted by Ben Pritchard on Thu, 09/07/2015 - 10:22am

Please see the attached email I received from Cllr Vicki Howard, Deputy Chairman of the Development Assessment and Neighbourhood Planning Committee, Brisbane City Council, in response to the submission made by TPA to the proposed development of the Footprints site, corner of Commercial Road and Florence Street.

As you can read, she believes the proposed development is too tall for the site and the neighbourhood of Teneriffe. She will convey TPA's concerns to the Committee Chairman.

ROSTER TO STAFF THE TPA TENT

These are the times still available during which we need volunteers to staff the TPA tent; to say hello to and to engage with Festival-goers.

The display technology, whiteboard and pamphlets will all be available. All you have to do is to invite people to look at the display, and if they are interested, to get them to contribute a suggestion to the whiteboard, and to consider joining TPA as a member.

It is your suburb, and our community, so please volunteer an hour of your time this Saturday.

Teneriffe Festival

Submitted by Ben Pritchard on Tue, 30/06/2015 - 2:39pm

Members,

Please remember to get along to the Festival this Saturday, 4 July, and to come to the TPA tent to show support for the TPA.

Encourage friends, neighbours and colleagues to visit the TPA tent and to learn about what is going on in Teneriffe.

Volunteers to staff the tent - for an hour, or two - are also most welcome.

Ben Pritchard
President, TPA

Proposed development of the Footprints site, 105-109 Commercial Road

Submitted by Ben Pritchard on Fri, 26/06/2015 - 10:26am

The attached letter of submission has been sent to Brisbane City Council. The letter raises concerns and particular comments about the proposed development of the Footprints site, as a 10 storey apartment building.
The letter was drafted and submitted on the basis of the discussion and agreement reached at the June meeting of TPA.

I am continuing to discuss with the developer, Pointcorp, improvements to Florence Street, which will be included as part of the proposal and in line with requirements of the local plan for the Teneriffe area.
