The attached letter has been submitted to Council in relation to the proposed development of a 15 storey building at 49 Doggett Street (behind Wallace Bishop). As discussed at the last meeting of TPA, if anyone wishes to make a submission to Council, please feel free to use text from the attached letter.
Teneriffe Progress Association
Please note, due to a scheduling oversight we have had to move the meeting date to THURSDAY 23 MARCH, commencing at 7:00pm. TPA apologises for this change.
Thank you to all the volunteers, Scouts and parents who pitched in to make the Clean Up Teneriffe Day the biggest and best one so far. Over 50 volunteers were ably assisted by the Brisbane Central Scouts in cleaning up the whole of Teneriffe. The suburb is now tidy and clear of litter.
A big thank you to the volunteers who helped organise and produce the event, which was followed by a great bbq on the grass outside the TPA Shed.
A reminder folks,
This coming Sunday, 5th of March, is “Clean Up Australia Day” and, as in past years, the TPA is calling for volunteers for our own “Clean Up Teneriffe” exercise.
Kick off is at 08.00am from The Shed at 29 Macquarie Street (opposite Hastings Street).
We plan to finish by 10.30am or thereabouts and will follow up with a ‘gold coin’ sausage sizzle.
I look forward to seeing you there.
The final meeting of the TPA year will be held on Wednesday 16 November, at the Shed, 29 Macquarie Street, commencing at 7:00pm.
Special guest at the meeting will Cherylee Treloar, CEO of Footprints.
The meeting will be followed by Christmas drinks on the deck of the Shed, so please come suitably armed (bottle, glass, nibbles) and ready to celebrate.
TPA will be hosting a community BBQ this Sunday, 13 November, to demonstrate opposition to the recently-erected fence that blocks off pedestrian access through Mactaggarts Place.
Everyone is invited to come along and join the meeting at 11:00 am on Sunday 13 November. The BBQ will be held adjacent to Gloria, the sheep statue, on Riverwalk. Bring a cold drink and your donations to the fund, and hear what has been done, is being done, and what you can do to make your opinion heard.
See you all on Sunday morning.
On behalf of TPA, I have made a submission to the Commissioner for Body Corporate and Community Management regarding the Mactaggarts Place fence. A copy of the submission is attached. If anyone would like any more information please contact me.
To show support for TPA and its campain to reinstate the footpath through Mactaggarts Place please come to the next TPA meeting, and come along to the next community BBQ. It will be held next to Gloria, the statue on Riverwalk, on Sunday 13 November at 11:00 am.
